DRIVER'S EDUCATION

Massachusetts RMV Junior Operator License (JOL) Requirements:

     30 hours of classroom Instruction

     12 hours behind the wheel

       6 hours of observation

       2-hour Parent class

Driver Education Certificate Requirements:
Student must be 15.9 yrs. old to begin the classroom portion of the  JOL.
Student must have obtained their Learner's Permit and a Parent must attend a Parent Class, to begin the 18 hours in the car. (12 behind the wheel and 6 observation hours)

 (Certificate will be issued electronically by the RMV upon completion of the entire program)

To obtain a Massachusetts Learner's Permit: 

Tests are given on a walk-in basis at the RMV.  All students test on a computer and must pass 18 out of 25 questions.

Fees payable to the Registry of Motor Vehicles:

Learner's Permit $30.00

Road Test Appointment $35.00

License Fee $50.00
